Default The clock is ticking.........

This past Saturday night, I was scrolling through our clubs forum and came across a member with a problem posted in the "Tech" section. As normal, I jumped right in with some thoughts on the problem, and told him I was heading out for a while, and would get back to him later that night.

On return, I found a reply asking if I could give him a call, which I did. We had conversed on the forum a few times, but this was the first time on the phone. After going through some detailed instructions, we chatted a bit, and set a date to hook up when he made it back to Fl in a few months. He works for Barnum & Baily, and was heading from AZ to CA on Sunday afternoon, after having breakfast with the AZ clan.

I found a message Sunday morning from him saying the problem was fixed, and thankin me for all the help. Monday morning, before heading out to work, I checked the forum as normal. Cary was killed in a crash Sunday night..............

Quote:
"Cary T. Jaquish, 32, of Covington, Ky., was westbound on a Harley Davidson motorcycle on I-10 near Verrado Way around 8:15 p.m. when he hit a piece of tire tread, forcing him to lay the bike down, said Department of Public Safety spokesman Robert Bailey. Jaquish was wearing a helmet and protective riding gear.

He was flown to St. Joseph's Hospital and Medical Center in Phoenix in critical condition, Buckeye Fire Chief Bob Costello said. He was later pronounced dead at the hospital, Bailey said.

Jaquish was traveling with a Ringling Bros. and Barnum & Bailey Circus troupe from Phoenix to Fresno, Calif., Bailey said. The troupe, which included his girlfriend, was about 15 minutes behind him. Jaquish was in a band with the circus group."
Since the club was founded in 02, this is the first loss we've had. Even knowing that this could have been any one of us, and we accept the risk willingly, the news has been devastating.

So, get off your arse, and go let the ones you love know it. Let them know each and every day because you never know when the clock will stop ticking for you.

God Speed Cary, and raise a little hell in hills of heaven.

travelling with a circus and riding a motorcycle. Cary sounds like he was living life right and I wish him and his family peace. Next time you hear the thunder clap just think Cary is kickstarting his hog...

Very sad...I've given thought over the years to getting into the motorcycle thing, and every time I'm on the verge, I hear this kind of story. I know, I know, you could be killed crossing the street at any time - but there's something so inherently dangerous about bikes (perhaps that these accidents are almost always someone else's fault, or in this case, coming upon some freak scenario you have no power to control) that keeps me from taking the plunge. Sorry to hear about your friend Pete. He sounds like he was one interesting cat. Be careful on that bike too.

Sorry to hear that Pete. That's got to be tough talking to him one day and then hearing about it the next. I ride just about every day and twice on sundays, this of course hits very close to home. I rode home the rain this morning 35 miles after doing an estimate for a deck job near Tarpon Springs. I have no worries about my skills in the rain but the other drivers trouble me.

Wait a second, St Pete / Boone NC....... deck jobs...... It's been a long time bro. How ya doing ? I lost you number, and have been wanting to hook up for the longest time.

Ya, it hit me a bit hard, as it did the AZ clan members that were with him for lunch just hours before the accident.

Hard to avoid riding in the rain at this time of year, it's almost every commute home after work. Caught it pretty good a few weeks ago riding home from Daytona. I actually stopped at an underpass for about 20 minutes, which is rare for me. It was the bumper to bumper, stop and go traffic added to the rain that made me pull the plug. Deadly combo on I-4.

Thanks to all for the kind words.

Cary died as he lived -- fearlessly, passionately, and in the fast lane. He lived and experienced more in his 32 years than some people do in a lifetime. While none of us want to go young, he died doing what he loved.

I was wondering if you noticed that I was in here. Last that I saw you in ES you were going up for your daughter's team brain contest, how did they do? sent you an pm with contact info. Let's ride! I'd have gone to daytona with you if I'd known. Son is still in Orlando trying to finish college (taking a year off didn't help much)
