The Weekly Witching Hour
Good Evening....and welcome.
Each week, I'll host here an episode of the deliciously spooky CBS Radio Mystery Theater, narrated by E.G. Marshall.
On 13 February, 1974, dissident Nobel writer Alexander Solzhenitsyn was expelled from the USSR, Ringo Starr released 'You're 16', The hit series 'Good Times' debuted on CBS TV, and Skylab 4's astronauts landed. Gold was at a record high of $161.31 an ounce in London, and Barbra Streisand's 1st #1 hit, "The Way We Were", hit the airwaves. The US had no Vice-President. The DOW Jones Industrial average stood at a whopping 616 points. Richard Nixon was still President and the most popular songs an the radio were Billy Don't Be a Hero by Bo Donaldson and the Heywoods, Seasons in the Sun by Terry Jacks, The Loco-motion by Grand Funk, and Kung Fu Fighting by Carl Douglas. Bread cost $0.28 a loaf, a new car $4,440, a nice house in the suburbs $38,000, and gas was an 'inflated' $0.53 a gallon. The average US income was $14,711/year and the minimum wage was $2.00/hour. Best movie of the year was 'The Godfather, Part II'. On TV, shows such as Emergency, The Bob Newhart Show, and All in the Family reigned supreme. The hot games that day were the Sit N' Spin, the Rubik's Cube, and Connect Four.
Episode 37, broadcast on 13 February, 1974, is titled Dig Me Deadly.
Take a little trip back in time.
Pull the covers up around your ears.
And listen closely.
I hope when it's all over, you'll have....
Pleasant...dreams??

That's so cool! Kids these days don't know what they are missing. My best friend and I used to tune this in on a really crappy AM station on Saturday night when we were kids

Boone
i don't know your source, nor if you have retrieved all of the original programs of CBSRMT--i think, repeat think, this source has all of the originals--if you still need some for a complete library try this:
IAGTP: CBS Radio Mystery Theater Series
it may also have other material that could be of interest to you

Thanks Jerry - pretty nifty little site there A lot of what he's got there, like 'The Shadow' was a little before my time (can't say that very often these days), but still cool to listen to. I've got every one of the CBS Radio Mystery Theater shows.

Btw, if you aren't reading the first post narrative, and reliving the links posted there (accurate to the day these shows were originally broadcast), you're really missing out
